DevOps Engineer

Site Reliability Engineering, CI/CD, Chef, Infrastructure & Operations, RubyOnRails, Terraform, Elastic Stack, Graphite, MongoDB, MySQL

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our team to help manage the infrastructure of our SaaS codebase.

The role combines development, operations, and support tasks to ensure the continuous effectiveness of our systems. The ideal candidate will participate in infrastructural enhancement and routine upkeep, guaranteeing high availability and performance of our services.

Responsibilities
  • Upgrade dependencies as indicated by Snyk reports to address gem vulnerabilities
  • Transition two Jenkins instances to Buildkite
  • Perform upgrades to newer versions of Ruby, Rails, MongoDB, MySQL, and Redis
  • Transition CentOS7 servers to Rocky Linux 8
  • Execute weekly security upgrades for operating system packages
  • Provide support on a 24/7 basis as an on-call engineer
  • Build and oversee CI/CD pipelines
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code principles using tools such as Terraform
  • Employ configuration management tools like Chef
  • Monitor system performance and resolve issues
  • Keep documentation and system standards updated
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience in DevOps or systems engineering roles
  • Extensive background in software development, specifically maintaining a SaaS codebase and its infrastructure
  • Proficiency in the Ruby and Rails ecosystem
  • Hands-on background in Linux systems engineering
  • Skills in CI/CD methodologies
  • Competency in infrastructure tools like Terraform or Chef
  • Strong abilities in written communication
  • Flexibility to work remotely and engage in on-call rotations
Nice to have
  • Familiarity with tools like Elastic stack, Nagios, and Jenkins
  • Knowledge of MySQL, MongoDB, and Nginx
  • Understanding of principles related to CDN
