Chief Data Modeler

We are seeking a Chief Data Modeler to enhance our online retail client's team by optimizing their data architecture and pipelines.

In this role, you will strategically review and improve the current data model in MicroStrategy, addressing issues and implementing enhancements that facilitate data engineering. Your expertise will be critical in managing technical debt and ensuring an efficient data processing environment. You will work with a modern technological landscape that includes Amazon S3, Amazon Redshift, and SQL, contributing to the overall data strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Review the current data model in MicroStrategy to identify problems and redundancies
  • Address technical debt in the data model and data pipelines
  • Implement improvements to facilitate easier data engineering
  • Collaborate with the team to optimize data storage and retrieval processes
  • Design and maintain effective data models that support business intelligence needs
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy across various data platforms
  • Utilize SQL and custom scripts for data processing tasks
  • Work with the data lake storage in Amazon S3 and fast serving layer in Amazon Redshift
  • Orchestrate data workflows using Apache Airflow
  • Provide expert guidance on MicroStrategy best practices
Requirements
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in data modeling and architecture
  • Expert knowledge of MicroStrategy Business Intelligence
  • Strong understanding of Data Modeling Fundamentals
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with data processing
  • Familiarity with Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3, and Amazon Web Services
  • Experience with data pipeline management and optimization
  • Capability to identify and resolve technical debt issues
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements
  • Advanced proficiency in English (C1)
Nice to have
  • Experience with Apache Airflow for orchestration
  • Background in online retail data environments
  • Understanding of data governance and compliance standards
